Midas Prize for Journalism in Minority Protection and Cultural Diversity in Europe 2010
Winner of the Midas Prize for Journalism 2010 Örs Szeghalmi (Bihari Naplo) Celebration of the Award: 7 May 2010, Vilnius (Lithuania)
Mr. Örs Szeghalmi is an outstanding journalist known for his many articles on minority issues all over Europe and especially on the relation between Hungary and Romania. In a series of articles he reported on the governmental crises after the election in 2009 when the opposition forces tried to convince Mr. Klaus Johannis, mayor of Sibiu (Hermanstadt) - who is belonging to the German minority – to become first Prime Minister belonging to a minority in Romania.
