ARON BALLO JOURNALISM FELLOWSHIPS

In the year 2008, MIDAS awarded one fellowship in memory of Aron Ballo, the Chief editor of Szabadság, who lost his life in a tragic car accident doing journalistic research for his newspaper.

Newspaper journalists from Hungarian, German and Roma minority in Transylvania (Romania) were invited to apply for the Aron Ballo Journalism Fellowship.

Mr. Bence Balázs, the journalist from the Szabadság, was granted the fellowship. Within its scope, he received a scholarship and worked for the Midas member newspaper of his choice and acted as correspondent for his home newspaper. The hosting newspaper of Mr. Bence Balázs was the daily of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, Új Szó.
